July 2012 Update: YVSP Training Announcement and Forum on BNNTV

Jul
23

In this month's YVSP update, we'd like to announce two exciting pieces of news:

  1. Come to our next YVSP Model training on August 8th!
  2. See the YVSP Forum, "What Matters to You(th)," on BNN TV
YVSP Strategy Lab Training

You, your  organization, and your partners are invited to our next training on how the YVSP Strategy Lab can be used to restore lasting peace in our communities.

Here are the key details:

  • What: YVSP Model Training
  • When: August 8th, from 11am-5pm (lunch will be included!)
  • Where: Emmanuel Gospel Center (EGC), 2 San Juan St, Boston, MA 02118
  • RSVP:Email Erik Nordbye

The Model (which is freely available for download on our website) is a powerful collaborative tool, but its usefulness depends on being familiar with its underlying concepts, framework, and functions. It's always more fun to learn together than trying to do it alone.

Don't forget to RSVP, and we hope to see some of you on August 8th!

"What Matters to You(th)," Forum on BNN TV

Last December, approximately 50 youth and about a dozen adults attended YVSP's "What Matters to You(th)" Forum, where young people were encouraged to recognize one another's work in their communities and discuss the issues that they care about most. For those of you who weren't able to attend the Forum, we have great news: theBoston Neighborhood Network's (BNN) coverage of the Forum will be aired this week in a segment on their News and Info Channel.

Here is when you can catch that:

  • Wednesday (7/18, Tonight!): 8:30pm
  • Friday (7/20): 4:30pm
  • Sunday (7/22): 7:00am

The News and Info channel is on channel 9 for Comcast users, channel 15 for RCN users, and can be streamed online live at BNN's website. We'd like to thank BNN again for coming out to the forum and reporting on what really matters to youth and what youth are doing about it in their communities.

One of the Forum's MC's, Heang Ly from Teen Empowerment, gets a spirited response during an opening icebreaker.
