April 2012 Update: Boston Indicators Report
Research sits at the heart of the Youth Violence Systems Project because we believe that it's one of the best ways to capture the community's knowledge about the things that matter most to it. That's why we've assembled six Neighborhood Briefing Documents, which are available online. It's also why we are excited to call your attention to the 2012 Boston Indicators Report: City of Ideas, a holistic picture of Boston's economic health. We hope that you'll take a look at the report itself (it's well designed and easy to navigate!) but this Update summarizes the findings that are most related to the city's youth.

October 2011 Update
With Thanksgiving less than a month out and the next YVSP Community Forum a little over a month away, we're taking a look back and giving thanks for the steps we have taken forward together since the first YVSP Community Forum on December 9th, 2010. After a thoughtful, community-based process of development, the YVSP framework and model were launched and the Project's attention was redirected to getting it out into the hands of the community. We're still very much in that phase and wanted to review a few of the ways that the YVSP computer model and framework have been taught, used, talked about, and written about during the last year.

September 2011 Update
Youth Violence is a hot topic for the City of Boston and, on that front, the September YVSP Update is dedicated to highlighting Boston's strategy and activities of interest. In the spring of 2011, Mayor Menino's office released the City of Boston Plan outlining its youth violence prevention strategy. Within the last month, the Boston Public Health Commission-on behalf of the City as a whole-submitted a proposal for a Massachusetts state grant that would fund and advance the aforementioned youth violence reduction and prevention strategy.

August 2011 Update
The Youth Violence Systems Project's computer model and framework simulate the interaction between a number of key concepts. In this update, we'd like to introduce you to one of the Model's most important conceptual insights into youth violence: community trauma.

July 2011 Update
The Youth Violence Systems Project relies on strategic partnerships to both understand and respond to violence in Boston. We want to highlight some exciting new developments with one of our oldest partners: Project R.I.G.H.T. (PRI).

June 2011 Update
This update was orginally mailed in June 2011. The Youth Violence Systems Project hosted an Academic Forum on May 27th. Our goal was to present the Project to an academic audience, dialogue across disciplinary boundaries, and collect expert insights and suggestions on potential next steps.
